"I
never let schooling interfere with my education."
-- Mark Twain |
|
The
basic socializing and nurturing institution is the family. We are told,
"life is
more than science and mathematics, more than history and literature. There is
need
for another education . . . I refer to education of the heart, of the
conscience, of
the character, of the spirit—these indefinable aspects of our personalities
which
determine so certainly what we are and what we can do in our relationships with
one
another." (Gordon B. Hinckley)
|
Education
of the heart strengthens families. Not just that we impart these values to our
children but that we actively seek and practice these values within our homes
and communities.
|
|
We must cultivate communities where children can learn. Studies
show that children spend 91 percent of their lives outside of school yet parents
seem to be playing a smaller role in education.
It
our goal to support the process by presenting ideas, information, and activities
for educating families. Please join us.
